General (Fig. 1)
A. The engine starting system provides the means of rotating the engine N2
compressor on the ground or in flight to an rpm at which engine start can
occur. The starting system assists the engine to accelerate to
approximately 50% N2 rpm, at which time the starting system will stop
operating. For inflight start, the system can be energized to supplement
a windmilling engine if required. System components for each engine
include the starter, start valve, start valve disagreement light,
pneumatic ducting, and necessary control circuitry (Fig. 1). Switches on
the engine start and ignition control module located on the pilots'
overhead panel P5, control the engine starting system operation.
B. Power for the system is 28 volts dc supplied from the overhead circuit
breaker panel P11 battery bus.
C. Pneumatic power can be obtained from three separate compressed air
sources: the airplane auxiliary power unit (APU), ground carts through
service connections, or cross-bleed air from an operating engine.
2 . Component Details
A. Starter (Fig. 2)
(1) The engine starter converts high energy compressed air to starter
shaft torque sufficient to accelerate the engine to starting speed.
The starter is a lightweight, single stage, axial flow, turbine air
motor consisting of a nozzle, turbine wheel and shaft, reduction
gear train, exhaust screen, housing assembly, clutch mechanism, and
output drive shaft. Starter operation is controlled by the start
valve which opens on demand to permit air to flow into the starter
inlet.
(2) The starter is mounted on the aft face of the accessory gearbox at
the 6 o'clock drive pad. It is secured to an adapter pad by a
V-band coupling and accurately located by two locator pins on the
starter flange.
(3) The starter gears and bearings are splash-lubricated by a
self-contained oil system. Fill and drain ports are provided in the
housing for servicing. The magnetic drain plug assembly consists of
an inner magnetic probe and an outer drain plug. The magnetic probe
can be removed to check for metallic chips without draining the oil.
A check valve in the drain plug prevents draining when the magnetic
probe is removed.
B. Start Valve (Fig. 3 and Fig. 4)
(1) The start valve controls compressed air flow to the engine starter.
The valve is a spring loaded closed, electrically controlled,
pneumatically operated shutoff valve. The start valve has two major
components, the valve body and the actuator.
EFFECTIVITY
oe 80-11-00
ALL oe
oe H01 Page 1
oe Apr 22/00
BOEING PROPRIETARY - Copyright (C) - Unpublished Work - See title page for details.
A
767
MAINTENANCE MANUAL
////////////////////////
////////////////////////
/ /
/ /
CF6-80C SERIES
ENGINES
RAM AIR TURB
VALVE VALVE
PRESS
a a
a
g
UNLKD
ENG START
L R
GND
AUTO
OFF
CONT
FLT
GND
AUTO
OFF
CONT
FLT
SINGLE BOTH
Engine Start Controls
Figure 1
A
B
SWITCHES
FUEL
CONTROL
FLIGHT COMPARTMENT
SEE A
SEE B
L FUEL CONTROL R
RUN
CUTOFF
SPAR
VALVE a
VALVE
SPAR
a VALVE
VALVE
ENG
a REV a
ENG
ISLN a
720590
EFFECTIVITY
oe 80-11-00
ALL oe
oe H04 Page 2
oe Feb 10/90
BOEING PROPRIETARY - Copyright (C) - Unpublished Work - See title page for details.
A
767
MAINTENANCE MANUAL
////////////////////////
////////////////////////
/ /
/ /
CF6-80C SERIES
ENGINES
AIR INLET
STARTER
FWD
EXHAUST
OIL FILLER
CAP (2 LOCATIONS)
STARTER
DRIVE
SHAFT
SEE B
SEE A
B
Figure 2
Starter
A
OVERFLOW
PLUG
OVER
FLOW
OVER
FLOW
DRAIN PLUG
MAGNETIC
PROBE
222748
EFFECTIVITY
oe 80-11-00
ALL oe
oe H01 Page 3
oe Aug 10/91
BOEING PROPRIETARY - Copyright (C) - Unpublished Work - See title page for details.
A
767
MAINTENANCE MANUAL
////////////////////////
////////////////////////
/ /
/ /
CF6-80C SERIES
ENGINES
STARTER
(REF) START
VALVE
STARTER PNEUMATIC
DUCT (REF)
A
SEE A
Figure 3
Start Valve
FWD
936737
EFFECTIVITY
oe 80-11-00
ALL oe
oe H03 Page 4
oe Aug 10/91
BOEING PROPRIETARY - Copyright (C) - Unpublished Work - See title page for details.
A
767
MAINTENANCE MANUAL
////////////////////////
////////////////////////
/ /
/ /
CF6-80C SERIES
ENGINES
Figure 4
Start Valve Schematic
CHAMBER A
SPRING
CLOSING
TORSION
DIAPHRAGM
INDICATOR
MANUAL
OVERRIDE
AND POSITION
BLEED-OFF
PRESSURE
REGULATOR
BUTTERFLY
PLATE FLOW
AIR
AIR
FILTER
CHAMBER B
SOLENOID
ORIFICE
OPENING RATE
VENT
HEATING
JACKET
ORIFICE
CLOSING
RATE
ORIFICE
AMBIENT VENT REGULATOR
DIAPHRAGM
SWITCHES
POSITION
936598
EFFECTIVITY
oe 80-11-00
ALL oe
oe H03 Page 5
oe Aug 10/91
BOEING PROPRIETARY - Copyright (C) - Unpublished Work - See title page for details.
A
767
MAINTENANCE MANUAL
////////////////////////
////////////////////////
/ /
/ /
CF6-80C SERIES
ENGINES
(2) The dual diaphragm, pneumatic actuator is torsion-spring loaded with
a solenoid valve, position switch, and an externally mounted relief
valve. The actuator is connected to the butterfly shaft with a
connecting link and arm. The solenoid valve is a three-way ball
valve. The position switches have four electrical switches enclosed
in a housing on top of the actuator. A manual drive and position
indicator is located on top of the position switch(es). A bleed-off
pressure regulator is a spring-loaded, poppet type, relief valve.
(3) The valve body contains the butterfly shaft, bearings and a
butterfly plate. The position of the start valve butterfly plate is
controlled by the solenoid valve. Air immediately upstream of the
butterfly plate is filtered and routed through an orifice to chamber
A, the solenoid valve, and chamber B (Fig. 4). When the solenoid is
energized, the ball valve moves to the opposite seat. This shuts
off air pressure to chamber B and vents air pressure in chamber B to
ambient through the opening rate orifice. Air pressure acts on the
large diameter diaphragm against the combined force of the torsion
spring and the upstream pressure acting on the small diameter
diaphragm. The force from the opening diaphragm is transmitted
through a mechanical linkage to rotate the butterfly plate toward
the fully open position.
C. Engine Start and Ignition Control Module (Fig. 5)
(1) The engine start and ignition control module, on pilot's overhead
panel P5, is comprised of two ign/start control switches, an
ignition select switch, and two starter control VALVE disagreement
lights. The ignition select switch and the functions of the L(R)
ign/start control switch pertaining to ignition are described in
74-00-00, Ignition System - Description and Operation.
(2) The L(R) ign/start control switch has five positions: GND, AUTO,
OFF, CONT and FLT. There is a separate start switch for each
engine. The position of the L(R) ign/start control switch controls
which ignition system will operate for that engine.
(3) GND position is a solenoid-held, push-in and rotate selector. The
GND position opens the start MAINTENANCE MANUAL thankyouverymuch 737-800中文AMM手册 谢谢分享
