General</div><div>A. The following is a description of the flight compartment windows and</div><div>their component details. Operation of the No. 2 openable window is</div><div>also covered.</div><div>2 . Flight Compartment Windows (Fig. 1)</div><div>A. The left and right No. 1 windows are also called windshields. The No. 2</div><div>and No. 3 windows are the side windows in the flight compartment. The</div><div>flight compartment windows all have a conductive layer which is</div><div>electrically heated to prevent icing and fogging.</div><div>3 . Fixed Flight Compartment Windows (Fig. 2)</div><div>A. The left and right No. 1 and No. 3 windows are the fixed flight</div><div>compartment windows. The No. 1 window is flat while the No. 3 window has</div><div>a compound curvature. Both the No. 1 and No. 3 windows are installed</div><div>from outside the airplane and are held in place with bolts. Each fixed</div><div>window has three hoisting points for removal and installation.</div><div>B. The fixed windows have electrical connections for heating. The</div><div>electrical connections are on the upper front edge on the No. 1 window</div><div>and on the upper and lower front edges on the No. 3 window. Bus bars</div><div>across the upper and lower edges on the fixed windows connect to a</div><div>conductive layer within the windows. The fixed windows each have two</div><div>temperature sensors on the upper forward edge. The sensors each have two</div><div>electrical connectors and measure window temperature.</div><div>4 . No. 2 Openable Window (Fig. 3)</div><div>A. The No. 2 window has a compound curvature, the window opens by sliding</div><div>aft. Latches hold the window in the frame. A teleflex cable operated by</div><div>the latch handle releases the latches. The window crank turns a</div><div>continuous screw through a ball nut attached to a window arm. This moves</div><div>the window aft on two upper tracks and one lower track. Rollers support</div><div>the window on the tracks.</div><div>B. The window crank handle is equipped with a shear feature to prevent</div><div>overloading the window operating mechanism.</div><div>C.
