Consisting of three or four<BR>alphanumeric characters, the chart index<BR>number is enclosed in an oval at the top of<BR>the chart.<BR>The terminal charts are divided into ??serial<BR>charts and approach charts. ??serial<BR>charts include area chart, departure chart,<BR>arrival chart, and airport chart, and so on.<BR>?.3.1 ??Serial Chart Index<BR>?.3.2 Index Number of<BR>Approach Charts<BR>?.4 Chart Date<BR>The Chart Date may be used to ensure that the<BR>chart selected is correct and current. The effective time is 0901 UTC<BR>on effective date.<BR>?.5 Airport Identifier and Name<BR>The airport identifier and name are grouped together in<BR>the upper left corner of the terminal chart to enable<BR>easy confirmation that you have accessed the right<BR>airport within the specific city.<BR>The airport identifier is useful for flight planning and<BR>communications, and is also used to retrieve<BR>information in database-driven avionics equipment.<BR>The three- or four-letter airport identifier is a<BR>combination of an ICAO regional designation and an<BR>airport抯 governing agency designation.<BR>The three-letter airport name is designated by IATA.</P>
<P>?.6 Communication Frequencies<BR>Although the types of frequencies that are<BR>shown on a chart vary, there are several<BR>standard conventions you may observe in<BR>any frequency box:<BR>?Arrival, Departure, Approach, Airport,<BR>Tower control frequencies;<BR>?Sector control communication frequencies;<BR>?An asterisk(*) in front of the name of a<BR>frequency indicates that the service is not<BR>available at all times ;<BR>?An (R) that follows the frequency type<BR>means that radar is available for that<BR>service.<BR>?ATIS<BR>?.7 Airport Elevation<BR>Elevations are provided in altitudes above<BR>mean sea level (MSL). The airport<BR>elevation is the highest point of an airport抯<BR>usable runways.<BR>Touchdown zone elevation (TDZE) is the<BR>highest elevation in the first 3,000 feet of<BR>the landing surface.</P>
