– Evaluation of potential cockpit window noise treatments
– ECS noise source investigation including forward cabin muffler
January 2002 lab test
– ECS Flight Deck diffuser testing with plenum
May 2003 flight test
– Window noise source investigation (gaps around #2 window frame)
August 2003 flight test
– Evaluate potential use of Vortex Generators (VGs)
November, December 2003 lab tests
– Flight Deck Muffler and diffuser plenum tests
January 2004 ground test, 1st QTR 2004 Flight Test
– ECS Ducting changes and prototype muffler (potential prototype diffuser)
– Specific vortex configuration flight test
Data review
– Studied 747 and 737 Classic flight deck noise investigations

work. Better than baseline.
• Target airplane for in production change by 2nd Qtr
2005
• Specifics will be officially communicated via ACB once
PRR has been committed including reason for change,
benefits and line number start
• Potential for 73dB(A)
