the weather radar :
- The ON/OFF switch controls its power supply,
when switched on, the TILT indication appears on the ND,

- The TILT knob, which is used to adjust the radar antennae
relative to horizon. The tilt angle is displayed on the ND,

- The GAIN knob, which is used to adjust the sensitivity of
the receiver manually. In this case, the word MAN appears in
green under the TILT indication.
In the AUTO position, the radar adjusts the gain to the
optimum setting automatically.

There are several reasons why a manual start may be required including low pneumatic pressure. The main difference between a manual and an automatic start is that the pilot controls the time at which fuel and ignition are supplied to the engine. The FADEC only provides passive monitoring of the engine during the start sequence. This means that responsibility for preventing an over limit start remains with the pilot. Note: Manual starts are completed using the procedure detailed in FCOM 3- procedures and techniques MENU POWER PLANT (IAE) Manual Start 3/31 The FADEC controls: - the closure of the start valve at 43 % N2 - and ignition cut off on the ground. MENU POWER PLANT (IAE) Manual Start 4/31 The configuration is the same. On the E/WD, all indications related to the engines are displayed in amber as long as the FADECs are not powered. Note: PNF should monitor to ensure EGT increase within 20 seconds of fuel flow starting. Swiittcchh oonn ENGMASTTER sswiittcchh 22.. MENU POWER PLANT (IAE) MENU Manual Start 19/31 No, to switch on ENG MASTER switch 2, click on ENG MASTER switch 2. POWER PLANT (IAE) MENU Manual Start 20/31 No, to switch on ENG MASTER switch 2, click on ENG MASTER switch 2. POWER PLANT (IAE) MENU Manual Start 21/31 POWER PLANT (IAE) MENU Manual Start 22/31 POWER PLANT (IAE) Manual Start 23/31 On the ECAM ENGINE page: - the fuel used is reset, - both igniters are on. On the E/WD fuel flow is indicated. MENU POWER PLANT (IAE) MENU Manual Start 24/31 On the ECAM ENGINE page both igniters are on and When N2 reaches 43%: - start valve closes, - and ignition stops. POWER PLANT (IAE) MENU Manual Start 25/31 N2 continues increasing. At about 58% it stabilizes and the grey background disappears indicating that the start sequence is finished. The ENGINE 2 is running and all its parameters are stabilized. POWER PLANT (IAE) Manual Start 26/31 Swiittcchh ooffff eennggiinnee 22maann ssttaarrtt ppuusshhbbuuttttoonn.. MENU POWER PLANT (IAE) MENU Manual Start 27/31 No, to switch off engine 2 man start pushbutton, push on pushbutton 2.
