• December 24, 2001
- Description - Engine rolled back during cruise
- Result - Airplane diversion
- Maintenance Action - EEC replaced
- Root Cause - EEC Memory Corruption (DFDR data duplicated by CFMI testing)
• December 30, 2001
- Description - At top of decent engine remained at part power
- Result - Commanded In Flight Shutdown
- Maintenance Action - HMU and EEC Replaced
- Root Cause - EEC Memory Corruption (DFDR data duplicated by CFMI
testing)
• January 5, 2002
- Description - Engine rolled sub-idle during lightning strikes
- Result - Uneventful single engine landing
- Maintenance Action - EEC sent to BAE as precaution -
- Root Cause - Disturbances at the engine inlet caused by lightning strikes

CFM56-7B LOTC Events Dec. 2001 - Mar. 2002
• February 15, 2002
- Description - Engine rolled back during taxi out
- Result - Aborted Takeoff
- Maintenance Action - N2 sensor replaced. N2 sensor had been installed for
15 hours. N2 sensor may not have been repaired.
- Root Cause - N2 Sensor (Waiting sensor repair results)
• February 23, 2002
- Description - N1 split during takeoff roll
- Result - Aborted Takeoff
- Maintenance Action - TBD
- Root Cause - Under Investigation (Decoded DFDR data was corrupted -
DFDR ground station being investigated by Boeing)

CFM56-7B LOTC Events Dec. 2001 - Mar. 2002
• March 13, 2002
- Description - N1 rolled back at 35,000 ft. - recovered - and rolled back
again. Engine stayed at idle during thrust reverser operation. After
stowing the thrust reverser the engine rolled sub-idle and shutdown.
- Result - Air turn back
- Maintenance Action - EEC replaced
- Root Cause - EEC Memory Corruption (DFDR data duplicated by CFMI
testing)
• March 19, 2002
- Description - Aircrew reported engine would not respond to throttle prior
to takeoff
- Result - Aborted Takeoff
- Maintenance Action - PEO sensor replaced
- Root Cause - Under Investigation (PEO sensor to be returned for
investigation)
