MENU LANDING GEAR System Presentation 10/28 In the center of the ECAM Wheel page, green and amber messages can be displayed to provide normal and abnormal indications. This will be discussed further in the normal and abnormal operation modules. MENU LANDING GEAR System Presentation 11/28 At the bottom of the ECAM Wheel page, the position of the spoilers is displayed. This will be discussed in the Flight Controls chapter. MENU LANDING GEAR System Presentation 12/28 Let’s go to the cockpit to locate the controls and indicators for the landing gear, brakes and steering. The Landing Gear Selector Lever is located on the Center Instrument Panel. MENU LANDING GEAR System Presentation 17/28 Let’s take a closer look. Up, down and unlock indications are associated with position indicators on the WHEEL page. MENU LANDING GEAR System Presentation 18/28 When autobrakes are used, selection of LO, MED or MAX is made using these pushbutton switches. MENU LANDING GEAR System Presentation 19/28 The Anti-Skid and Nose Wheel Steering switch controls both functions. The switch is normally left in the ON position. MENU LANDING GEAR System Presentation 20/28 The Landing Gear Gravity Extension handle is located on the Center Pedestal. This will be discussed further in the abnormal operation modules. MENU LANDING GEAR System Presentation 21/28 The Steering handwheels are located on each side of the Cockpit, so either pilot can taxi the aircraft. The rudder pedals can also be used to steer the aircraft. Manual braking is provided using the top of the rudder pedals. MENU LANDING GEAR System Presentation 24/28 The Parking Brake Handle is located on the Center Pedestal. Its operation will be discussed in the normal operation module. MENU LANDING GEAR System Presentation 25/28 The A320 provides two braking modes: - NORMAL braking, - and ALTERNATE braking ALTERNATE BRAKING NORMAL BRAKING MENU LANDING GEAR MENU System Presentation 26/28 NORMAL BRAKING GREEN HYDRAULIC SYSTEM LANDING GEAR System Presentation 27/28 ALTERNATE BRAKING YELLOW HYDRAULIC SYSTEM NORMAL braking is powered by the GREEN hydraulic system. ALTERNATE braking, which includes the parking brake, is powered by the YELLOW hydraulic system.
