• Main Staging Valve (MSV) Faults
 The MSV Controls the DAC Staging Between 20/25 and 20/20
 The MSV Is Always Closed Fault Is No-Dispatch
 The MSV is Closed when De-energized
 Customers are Experiencing ATOs in Revenue Service
– The MSV Is Always Closed (73-x102n)
– More Than 90% of the Failures are Reported on Channel-B (x=2)
• Burner Staging (BSV) Valve Faults
 The BSV Controls the SAC to run 10 Nozzle or 20 Nozzle
 The BSV Is Always Open Fault Is Short Time Dispatch
 The BSV is Open when De-energized
 Customers are Experiencing BSV Faults in Revenue Service
– The BSV Is Always Open (73-x064n)
– More Than 90% of the Failures are Reported on Channel-B (x=2)
The Same HMU Solenoid is Used for Both BSV and MSV

• EEC Solenoid Driver Specification
 Output current for the solenoid driver is 330 ma +/- 30 ma
 EEC solenoid driver output range is 300 to 360 ma
 EEC solenoid driver output is a constant current
– ATP results show EEC solenoid output driver set to 330 ma
• Honeywell Solenoid Test Results (Solenoid Testing Only)

• CFMI Test Results From Evendale Test Facility (DAC Configuration)
 SAS HMU BECW1650
– BSV/MSV solenoid pull-in current
– ~300 ma pull-in current required at 120oF fuel temperature
– ~339 ma required to energize the solenoid at 170oF fuel temperature
– Solenoid response has been observed to be delayed as much as 5 sec
– Further Testing Required at Honeywell to determine worst case
• Channel-B Requires Higher Pull-in Current Than Channel-A
 MSV/BSV Solenoid Windings are Axially Mounted
– Channel-A is the inner winding
– Channel-B is the outer winding
• Configuration option available to address BSV Always Open Faults
 Implement Service Bulletin 73-0054
– Disable BSV
– HPTACC Faults Become Economic Rather Than No-Go
CFMI and Honeywell to Define Go-Forward Plan for MSV Faults
