Emirates SkyCargo’s Animal Care solution encompasses proven experience in handling and care for live animals, including pets, exotics and the world’s finest racehorses, as well as complying strictly with IATA Live Animal Regulations (LAR).
All animals, including domestic pets transported are constantly supervised for their safety, comfort and security, right from acceptance to delivery, in an environment designed to ensure their welfare. While animal welfare is our first priority, Emirates SkyCargo also ensures that the often complex requirements of regulatory authorities are met to avoid unnecessary delays at any point and guides the shipper about documentation, container requirements and other IATA Regulations.
The same detailed attention and IATA credentials that apply for the transportation of live animals equally extend to the transportation of horses. Emirates SkyCargo provides specialised horse stalls, simplified loading and offloading operations using a unit-load device, and independently controlled air-conditioned zones to ensure horses are accommodated in maximum comfort and security. A team of expert veterinarians and equine specialists are on hand throughout the flight and grooms are also permitted to accompany horses.

CITES - Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species’

For more information on easy booking procedures, please visit www.skycargo.com We will advise you when your pet should be delivered to the airport - usually between two and four hours before departure, although this can vary from country to country.
A strong high quality container, correctly chosen for the animal type, nature and size, which conforms to IATA Live Animals Regulations must be used, ensuring the animal(s) is safe, secure and comfortable. Emirates SkyCargo will be pleased to assist you in choosing the right containers. For dogs, cats and certain other animals (refer IATA LAR), we also have a range of high-quality kennels manufactured from sturdy injection-moulded plastic, when required. Containers must be correctly labelled with the standard IATA Live Animals Label, the name and address of the owner, a 24-hour contact phone number and the consignee’s name and address. If you are carrying a pet, the pet’s name must be shown on the container. Any relevant information with regard to animal care
(e.g. watering), must be supplied and attached to the container. Moreover, any medication that is being given must be declared to the Emirates acceptance staff during reservation and acceptance, and if found acceptable, be recorded with the name of the drug, time and route of administration, and have relevant documents attached. For pets, please ensure that all vaccinations are up to date and provide vaccination and other health certificates.
Emirates SkyCargo does not recommend tranquilising or sedating of animals. For smooth and fast delivery at destination, we will ensure that there is someone to meet your sensitive shipment at the airport of destination. We will request that the consignor provides the consignee’s confirmation to accept the shipment in advance.

We recommend purchasing the container several days before travel. By placing familiar bedding, toys or titbits inside, your pet will become accustomed to it.

For equipment accompanying the animals, the
following must be adhered to:

. We require an approximate weight of the
equipment, in order to block space Be it a thoroughbred horse between races, a much loved pony or a family horse, from the moment you entrust your horse(s) to us until we deliver it back to you, the wellbeing of your horse is our top priority.
In accordance with IATA’s Live Animals regulations, all our equine passengers are loaded into specially designed horse stalls that are fully enclosed, self-contained units, approved and developed in consultation with veterinary experts.
To maximise the safety of your horses, separate ramps at the front and rear of the stall are used for loading and unloading, with the animals always facing the front of the aircraft during the flight. Non-slip floors and interiors without rough or sharp edges are also standard features. The stalls can be adapted to carry up to three horses, depending on their size, age, condition and the owner’s requirements.
Horses travel on board our state-of-the-art freighter aircraft with several independently air-conditioned zones, allowing us to regulate the temperature, pressure and ventilation to suit the individual needs of the horses. In addition, the long haul capabilities of our 747 freighter aircraft prevents unnecessary stops.
Our dedicated cargo professionals across the globe put the welfare of each animal first, carefully monitoring its condition and watching closely for any erratic behaviour. We also have the additional backing of a team of external veterinarians and equine specialists who are on call at all times to ensure horses are as comfortable in the air as they are on the ground.
