We will see now, how to manually start the engines.
There are several reasons why a manual start may be
required including low pneumatic pressure.
The main difference between a manual and an automatic
start is that the pilot controls the time at which fuel and
ignition are supplied to the engine.
The FADEC only provides passive monitoring of the engine
during the start sequence. This means that responsibility for
preventing an over limit start remains with the pilot.
Note: Manual starts are completed using the procedure detailed
in FCOM 3- procedures and techniques

The FADEC controls:
- the closure of the start valve at 43 % N2
- and ignition cut off on the ground.

The configuration is the same. On the E/WD, all indications
related to the engines are displayed in amber as long as the
FADECs are not powered.
In order to start the engines, the engine mode selector must
be switched to IGN/START position first.

When the selector is in the IGN/START position:
- the FADECs are energized and the engine parameters are
displayed on the E/WD.
-the ENGINE ECAM page is displayed automatically.

We will start engine 2 using the APU BLEED.
The ENG MAN START pb switches control their respective
start valves. To start engine 2, raise the guard and select ENG
MAN START 2 pb switch.
Note: PF should start his chrono when he selects the ENG MAN
START pb switch.

after the ENG MAN START pb switch is pressed, select ENG 2
MASTER switch ON.
Note: PNF should monitor to ensure EGT increase within 20
seconds of fuel flow starting.

When N2 reaches 43%:
- start valve closes,
- and ignition stops.

N2 continues increasing.
At about 58% it stabilizes and the grey background
disappears indicating that the start sequence is finished.
The ENGINE 2 is running and all its parameters are
stabilized.
