February 2002 WTT face to face CFMI / Boeing Proprietary Information - Unauthorized Disclosure, Use, or Export are Prohibited 1 Thrust Reverser Fireseal February 2002 WTT face to face CFMI / Boeing Proprietary Information - Unauthorized Disclosure, Use, or Export are Prohibited 2 Thrust Reverser Fireseal Background • Three operators reported damage to fireseal adjacent to 12 o’clock engine strut Status • Boeing examined several returned fireseals • Cause found to be abrasion of fireseal with titanium 12 o’clock strut surface • Currently investigating changes to 12 o’clock strut to prevent further damage to fireseal • Teflon patch to 12 o’clock strut current proposal • Boeing released FLEET TEAM Digest Article 737ng-FTD-78-02001, dated 9 Jan 2002 • Also working with Boeing Spares to ensure sufficient spares availability to support fleet inspection • Two each of S315A107-301/-302 to be available per month |
