The Wing Tip Brakes (WTB) are hydraulic
devices. They lock the affected surface movement
on both wings in case of asymmetry, overspeed,
symmetrical runaway or uncommanded movement.
Note that they cannot be released in flight.

If the flaps wing tip brakes are activated, slats
operation is still possible and vice-versa.

protection features and indications.

The flaps are fitted with a flap disconnect
detection system. This system detects attachment
failure and inhibits flap operation to limit further
damage.
In this case, you will get an ALIGNMENT fault.
The procedure is similar to the FLAPS LOCKED
procedure seen previously.

The last protection feature is the Slats
alpha/speed lock function. This function inhibits
slats retraction at high angle of attack and / or low
speed.
It is indicated by an A-LOCK pulsing blue on the
E/WD.
