The numbers are used to distinguish data peculiar to one or more, but not all of the airplanes. Where data applies to all airplanes listed, no reference is made to individual airplane numbers. The table permits flight crew correlation of configuration differences by Registry Number in alpha/numeric order within an operator’s fleet for airplanes covered in this manual. Configuration data reflects the airplane as delivered configuration. Airplane number is supplied by the operator. Registry number is supplied by the national regulatory agency. Serial and tabulation numbers are supplied by Boeing. This TBC manual covers typical representative airplanes. This manual is intended as a general reference for Boeing organizations and customers who do not yet have a customized manual. See title page for details. D611W302-TBC (200 GenFam) 1.10.3 Airplane Systems General Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) An APU is mounted in the tail of the airplane. The APU is a gas turbine engine capable of operating both in the air and on the ground. On the ground, the APU provides the electrical power and bleed air necessary to operate the airplane systems if external ground services are not available. In flight, the APU is capable of serving as a back-up for the engine bleed air system at or below 22,000 feet. Airplane Electrical Power The electrical power system supplies 115 volt AC and 28 volt DC electrical power to the airplane. On the ground, power can also be provided by the APU or by external power carts. If the electrical system loses one or more generators, electrical power to one or more galleys is removed automatically. Air Conditioning and Pressurization Normally, bleed air for air conditioning and pressurization is supplied by the engines. The APU can also be used to supply bleed air. Temperature is controlled separately for the flight deck and for the passenger cabin. Flight attendants control cabin temperature through the cabin management system (CMS). The cabin management system is also used to adjust the selected temperatures for each passenger zone. The cabin pressure is controlled automatically to provide a programmed cabin altitude. Passenger Cabin Cabin Systems Electrical Power [IFE/PASS SEATS/CABIN/UTILITY switches installed] Electrical power to the cabin Inflight Entertainment Equipment (IFE) and galley power systems is primarily controlled from the flight deck. Additional control of the IFE system is available to the cabin crew through the IFE Master Power switch located in the Video Control Center (VCC). Galley power may be turned off by moving the appropriate galley Emergency Power switch to the OFF position. IFE and Passenger Seats Power Control Electrical power to the IFE and passenger seats may be controlled by the IFE/passenger seats power switch on the flight deck electrical panel or the IFE power switch in the VCC. With the switch ON, the IFE and all passenger seat and related systems are powered normally. See title page for details. 1.10.4 D611W302-TBC (200 GenFam) Placing the IFE/passenger seats power switch OFF removes power from the following: • IFE (all components) • passenger seats (including seat motor power, personal computer power outlets, and telephones) Cabin and Utility Systems Power Control Electrical power to various cabin and utility systems may be controlled by the cabin/utility power switch on the flight deck electrical panel. With the switch ON, the ground service system and galleys are powered normally. Moving the flight deck cabin/utility power switch OFF removes power from items such as: • ground service system • galleys • fluorescent cabin lighting Additionally, when the flight deck cabin/utility power switch is selected OFF, the following cabin lights are turned on: • night lights, supplemental night lights, and reading lights • attendant work lights and some galley/crew rest lights Each galley has a galley emergency power off switch to control the power for that galley. See Chapter 6, Section 20, Galleys - Non-Normal Operations. Cabin Management System The cabin management system is designed to control and monitor many cabin and passenger functions. Control panels for the cabin management system are located at designated attendant stations. See Chapter 2A, Cabin Management System, for detailed information. Cabin Doors The passenger cabin is served by four entry doors, numbered 1L, 2l, 3l, and 4L, located on the left side of the airplane. Service doors, numbered 1R, 2R, 3R, and 4R, are located on the right side of the airplane. See Chapter 7, Doors, Slides and Emergency Exits, for detailed information. Galleys The galleys have provisions for storing and preparing food and beverages. Removable containers, which insert and latch into the galley walls, are used for replenishment of supplies, food, beverages, and waste storage. The galleys are equipped with electrical power and water services. See Chapter 6, Galleys, for detailed information. D611W302-TBC (200 GenFam) 1.10.5 Lavatories Each lavatory contains a toilet, wash basin, mirror, and all the necessary vanity items and disposal units. Some of the lavatories have baby care stations and handicap provisions. The lavatories contain two oxygen masks which deploy automatically during cabin depressurization. Ventilation is provided for each lavatory and air exhausts through overboard vents. See Chapter 5, Lavatories, for detailed information. Closets and Partitions Closets are installed in the forward half of the airplane. Partitions, lavatories, and galleys are used to separate class seating. Some partitions have literature pockets. Overhead Stowage Bins Door 1 and Door 4 Stowage Bin There are overhead stowage bins located in the ceiling over doors 1L, 1R, 4L, and 4R. Passenger Overhead Stowage Bins Overhead stowage bins over both the outboard and center seats accommodate blankets, pillows, and carry-on items. Emergency equipment may also be stored in the bins. See title page for details. 1.10.6 D611W302-TBC (200 GenFam) Passenger and Attendant Seating Passenger Seating Accommodations are provided for each passenger class. A passenger control unit (PCU) is provided in each seat arm rest. Passengers use the PCU to make entertainment selections, turn the reading light on or off, or call for passenger service. Flight Attendant Seating The flight attendant seats automatically return to the stowed position when unoccupied. A combination seat belt/shoulder harness and a padded head rest are installed in the seat. The harness functions as an inertia restraint device and retracts into a stowed position when not in use. The buckle has a release plate that must be moved through 90 degrees for release to occur.

Designated flight attendant direct view seats must be occupied by flight attendants during taxi, takeoff and landing. See the Passenger and Attendant Layout for direct view seat locations. Flight Attendant Stations Flight attendant stations are located at each door and include an attendant switch panel, service unit, attendant work lights, handset, seats, and cabin area control panels. Designated emergency equipment and a service unit containing oxygen masks are located at each flight attendant station. For details, refer to Chapter 8, Emergency Equipment. Each unit has reading lights, controlled by a switch in the passenger seat arm rest, an attendant call light, and a seat locator sign. Emergency Oxygen [Option shown: Chemical oxygen - 12 minutes; Option: 22 minutes] Passenger oxygen masks are located in overhead modular compartments. One mask is supplied for each passenger seat and two for each lavatory. An extra mask is located in both the center and outboard passenger seat units. Oxygen is available for approximately 12 minutes. [Option: Gaseous oxygen] Passenger oxygen masks are located in overhead modular compartments. One mask is supplied for each passenger seat and two for each lavatory. An extra mask is located in both the center and outboard passenger seat units. The system activates automatically if cabin altitude exceeds approximately 14,000 feet. If a group of masks fails to drop, the mask compartment can be released manually. Masks automatically drop from stowage and a continuous flow of oxygen is initiated when a mask is pulled. Pulling on one mask causes oxygen flow to all masks in that unit. The system can be manually activated by the flight crew at any altitude by pushing the passenger oxygen switch on the flight deck. Medical Power Outlets [Option shown: 6 outlets installed; Option: xx outlets] Six medical power outlets are located in the passenger cabin: • after the second row of first class seats on the right side of the airplane in the lower sidewall. • after the forth row of first class seats on the left side of the airplane in the lower sidewall. • in front of the first row of business class seats on the left and right side of the airplane in the lower sidewall. • in front of the first row of economy class seats on the left side of the airplane in the lower sidewall. • aft of the last row of economy class seats on the right side of the airplane in the lower sidewall. The outlets are covered with a plug similar to the plugs in the existing cabin service outlets. Power to the outlets is controlled by switches on the flight deck. See title page for details. 1.10.10 D611W302-TBC (200 GenFam) Flight Deck Security Door A lockable flight deck security door is installed to resist forcible entry by unauthorized personnel. In addition, the door meets the requirements for resistance to ballistic penetration and intruder entrance. The door opens into the flight deck. A viewing lens in the door allows observation of the passenger cabin. The door can be manually opened from the flight deck by turning the door handle. Entry to the flight deck is monitored by the flight crew. In the case of flight crew incapacitation, flight deck access may be gained through the use of the emergency access panel located on the right-side wall. The emergency access panel includes a six button keypad for entering the numeric access code along with red, amber, and green lights. The red light illuminates to indicate the door is locked. When the correct emergency access code is entered, the amber light illuminates. The green light illuminates to indicate the door is unlocked. The emergency access code is used to gain access to the flight deck in case of emergency or flight crew incapacitation. See title page for details. 1.10.14 D611W302-TBC (200 GenFam) Normal Operation If emergency access to the flight deck is required, entry of the correct emergency access code causes: • a flight deck chime to sound • initiates the auto-unlock sequence Note: The illumination of the amber light on the access panel indicates that the correct emergency access code has been entered and the door is programmed to automatically unlock after a time delay. Note: If the flight crew decides to deny entry, the door remains locked and prevents further keypad entry for several minutes. Note: If the correct emergency access code is entered and the flight crew takes no action, the door unlocks for a short time after the expiration of a time delay. • the green indicator light on the emergency access panel illuminates when the door is unlocked. The circled numbers adjacent to the panels refer to the chapter where a description and specific information may be found. Attendant Switch Panels (ASP) An attendant switch panel is installed at each attendant station. The attendant switch panel (ASP) may be used to: • initiate passenger evacuation • silence the evacuation horn • turn on emergency lights • test emergency lights • turn work lights on or off • select the alternate mode for Passenger Address announcements if the normal mode fails • select the alternate mode for Cabin Interphone operations if the normal mode fails. Also, there are passenger control units (PCUs) located in the crew rest area(s). The PCU is used to make entertainment selections, turn the reading light on or off, or call for passenger service. A headset may be plugged in to listen to the audio on the selected channel. The PCU includes switches for channel selection and audio volume. See vendor’s manuals for specific details and operation. Flight attendants use the Cabin System Control Panel (CSCP) or a Cabin Area Control Panel (CACP) to operate the CMS. Each airplane has one CSCP and two CACPs. Both the CSCP and CACPs have touch sensitive displays that enable the user to select all functions. The display is approximately 12 inches wide. The flight attendant is able to monitor and control passenger cabin functions using this menu. The CSCP and all of the CACP’s are configured to control all of the areas throughout the passenger cabin. Pushing the PANEL OVERRIDE switch, located in the upper right hand corner of the Cabin Controls Main Menu display, lets the CACPs control any area in the passenger cabin. The Cabin Controls Main Menu automatically appears on the CACPs. It also appears on the CSCP when Cabin Controls is selected from the display. Access to the selections is by pushing the desired display switch . Note: Pushing the Cabin Controls selection on the CSCP displays the Cabin Controls Main Menu.

[Typical] The PANEL OVERRIDE switch is located in the top right corner of the CSCP and the CACPs. It is available from the CABIN CONTROLS MAIN MENU only. Pushing the PANEL OVERRIDE switch causes the switch to illuminate green and gives the CSCP and CACPs control of all areas in the passenger cabin. The area description in the area select indicator is updated to include the additional areas. Displays that have an All Areas Controlled By Panel selection will now have an All Areas Controlled By Airplane selection. The PANEL OVERRIDE switch illuminating green indicates the override condition is activated and remains active until the override condition is reset. To reset the override condition, push the PANEL OVERRIDE switch. It extinguishes, and the CSCP and each CACP revert to their original configurations. 2 PASSENGER ADDRESS Provides volume control for the PA system. 3 CABIN DOOR STATUS Provides data for door position (locked or not locked). Cabin Lighting Operation The Cabin Lighting display shows: • the default area in the area description • the appropriate lighting level switch for that area is illuminated. To change/reset the lighting for an area/zone: • push the left/right arrow switches to select the desired area/zone • select the desired lighting level by pushing the NIGHT, LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH switch Note: The selected switch remains gray until the cabin lighting achieves the selected lighting level, then illuminates green. • verify lighting changes to the selected level • verify the selected switch illuminates.
