P: Hello. I’m going to Vienna from Beijing and I want to know the one-way fare of economy class.
S: The fare of economy class is CNY4780.
P: Oh, I see. And I have a baby with me, Can he enjoy the discounted fares?
S: Could you tell me how old your child is?
P: One and a half years old.
S: The tariff says passengers under 2 years of age are considered as infants. So your child can enjoy the infant fare which is 10 percent of adult fare.
P: Could he get the normal free baggage allowance?
S: I’m afraid not. And also, infants are not entitled to occupy an individual seat and must be accompanied by a passenger paying the full adult fare. If an individual seat is requested for an infant, 50 percent of the adult fare must be charged and normal free baggage allowance would apply.
P: I’ve got it. Please book me two two economy class tickets from Beijing to Vienna next Friday.
S: OK. I’ll confirm your reservations. But before that I need to see your passports and know your names.
P: Here you are.
S: Thank you. Please wait a moment. I’ll issue your tickets… Here are your tickets and passports, Mr. Smith. Please see your child’s ticket. The age in months is shown after his name and the ticket designator is IN which means infant discount. The baggage allowance box is crossed out. In the status box is written NS which stands for an infant not occupying a seat.
P: Thank you. I’ll pay it by cash .Here you are
