• With high thermal stability (HTS) oils (MJO 254, MJO 291, BPTO 2197)
- Mobil MJO 254 in service for years now with no problem
reported
- Mobil MJO 291 approved for CFM56 in October, 2000
- Service Evaluation conducted on Two CFM56-5B4/2P
- No issue identified after Engine parts inspection
- Air BPTO 2197 (Former EXXON 2197) approved for
CFM56 in October, 2000
- Service Evaluation conducted on two CFM56-3 engines
- No issue identified after Engine parts inspection

- Servo-Fuel Heater / Main Fuel-oil Exchanger Gasket
Seal
- This seal at the interface of the two components is installed on
all CFM56 Engine models (P/N 301-777-201-0)
- N1 Speed Sensor Sealing
- RTV732 used to seal Sensor onto Housing on
CFM56-2, CFM56-3, and CFM56-5A

- Fleet Highlight article published in August, 2001
- Recommend replacement of the Gasket Seal every 2500 hrs or
discontinue the use of MJO 291 until final fix issued
- AOW 01/CFM56/448 issued on December 1, 2001
- Recommend operators to delay the introduction of MJO 291 until
CFM laboratory investigation are completed
