Background
• Many operators reported contact between
engine components and insulation blanket
• Cause was airflow behind blanket which
lifted blanket away from T/R inner wall
Action Plan
Boeing production
• Introduced improved design concurrent
with L/N 701 (Nov 2000)
• Eliminated Rulon-J patches
• No further reports received to date
with new design
In-service retrofit (SB 737-78-1069)
• Validation completed Oct 2001
• Changes from validation being
incorporated into service bulletin
• SB to be released late Jan/early Feb 2002
