February 2002 WTT face to face CFMI / Boeing Proprietary Information - Unauthorized Disclosure, Use, or Export are Prohibited 1 HMU / HPSOV Switch CFMI / Boeing Proprietary Information - Unauthorized Disclosure, Use, February 2002 WTT face to face or Export are Prohibited HMU - HPSOV Indication System Background • HPSOV switch leading cause of HMU removals and D&C’s - On-wing switch replacement in place for containment - Committed to operators to intro fix by 4Q’01 • Joint CFMI/Boeing/Honeywell team have studied design alternatives to increase reliability to acceptable level - SPST switch with A/C modification selected • SPST switch eliminates predominant failure mode via run reed deletion - “Latch on shutdown” constitutes 90% of removals - Other switch characteristics maintained as risk abatement • New HMU P/N (P08) creates one-way engine/aircraft interchangeability - SPST switch requires revised P5-2 card; revised card compatible with current or proposed switch Qualification Testing Status • Comprehensive test program completed that addressed potential field failure modes • Endurance testing for both run and shutdown modes • Bounce testing completed at 1.25X engine “g” levels with Boeing P5-2 card - No “flickering” light observed. • Prototype switch installed on development engine for endurance cycling - 4000 cycle endurance test with periodic switch monitoring successfully completed NC NO Arm NC NO Arm Proposed Switch Configuration Current Double Throw Proposed Single Throw Run contact eliminated Introduction Logistics • CFMI/Boeing/Honeywell launch team formed.
